The Parliament of the Cayman Islands is currently accepting applications, For a six (6) month Contract for the following post:

Parliamentary Procedural Clerk

The post holder will assist the Clerk and Deputy Clerk of the Legislative Assembly in the core work of Parliament, i.e., work related to the procedural office for all House and Committee business, serving as Clerk to Committees. The scope of the work falls under the categories of acting as Committee Clerk, transcribing, web posting and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in transcribing proceedings of Public Accounts Committee hearings
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for committees
  • Draft PAC reports and Committees’ annual reports
  • Research on committee work, e.g., precedents both local and overseas and give advice to Members on Standing Orders procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining an effective filing system to ensure easy retrieval of House documents and files including the secure
  • Liaise with the Auditor General’s Office/Ministries/Portfolios/Authorities/Government owed Companies to the advance of the work of the Committees ;
  • Ensure that all documents relating to the House and Committees as well as the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association including Youth Parliament are posted to the Legislative Assembly website.

Candidates must have:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant discipline and 3-5 years of office/secretarial experience; A Bachelor’s Degree is desirable.
  • Must have experience with drafting minutes and reports;
  • Excellent typing skills & time management skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and schedule and prioritize deadlines;
  • Advanced Word processing skills including Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Standard and Excel;
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written; and
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to produce documents with high level of accuracy and details.
