JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATION

The Judicial Administration is now accepting applications for the post of:

MEDIATION PROGRAMME COORDINATOR

To support the Family Division in the processing of Mediation Information Assessment Meetings (MIAMS) and Mediations through the Family & Civil Division and any other Division as the Grand Court rules prescribed under the Grand Court Rules from time to time.

This post is established to facilitate the formal mediation regime established under the Grand Court Rules which is aimed at promoting participant-led resolution to contested cases in the family division and any other divisions as prescribed by the rules. This post is also established to facilitate the introduction of efficiencies in the resolution of claims coming before the court in a time efficient and cost effective manner.

Education:

  • Certified Mediator
  • A Legal degree or paralegal certificate in a commonwealth jurisdiction is desirable

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Current mediation training in both family and civil matters
  • Strong legal background and understanding of the Cayman family and children’s law
  • Familiarity with Cayman Islands law practice and procedure in family law matters
  • Proven experience with Mediation in the family and civil law areas
  • Strong training and background in assessing for domestic violence
  • Past experience in conducting mediations successfully
  • An understanding of confidentiality, its meaning and ramifications, and an ability to assure it

  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence to conduct and direct meetings with all stakeholders
  • An ability to work independently without supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and managing competing responsibilities.
  • Visionary skills for improving and expanding programing
  • Strong understanding of the need for record keeping and an ability to create and maintain records
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Problem Solving Attitude
