Manager, Communications and Public Relations

The Public Service Pensions Board (PSPB) is a public authority established to administer the public sector pension plans in the Cayman Islands. These include: the Public Service Pensions Plan, the Parliamentary Pensions Plan and the Judicial Pension Plan. Both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution types of provisions are involved.

Manager, Communications and Public Relations is the strategic leader within the authority for formulating and implementing public relations and communication strategies. The successful candidate will therefore be responsible for managing all internal and external communications, as well as public relations events and activities, to ensure PSPBís messages are consistent with the organizationís values and strategies.

Reporting directly to the Chief Pensions Officer, the key accountabilities are as follows:

1.Leads the development and implementation of PSPBís Key Performance Indicator based communications strategy and annual communications plan including social media to ensure alignment to the organizationsí values and business strategies.

2.Leads the production of PSPBís annual report to ensure there is consistent, accurate, and up-to-date information available to stakeholders.

3.Organizes and manages stakeholder engagement events and monitors stakeholder engagement levels based on agreed metrics to determine if additional outreach is required.

4.Responsible for the planning and delivery of relevant pension communications material to ensure consistency in messaging.

5.Monitors pension communication market developments and applies these to PSPB, as appropriate, to promote continuous improvement in the quality and effectiveness of scheme communications.

6.Acts as the Brandís spokesperson and is responsible for media relations and develops relationships with key media sources to secure and grow media coverage both online and offline, locally and internationally.

7.Manage all public relations matters, including addressing any issues of public concern.

8.Responsible for preparing educational material for the membership and consultation for retirement planning

9.Deputize as Information Officer

Qualifications and Experience (at a minimum):

  • Bachelorís degree, preferably in communications or public relations
  • Demonstrated in-house communication production experience and experience working with digital communications media and external suppliers, for 3-5 years in the Pension Industry
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and Project management experience required
  • Must be a confident communicator and excellent presenter
  • Must be creative, with strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design skills
  • Knowledge of how the government works, how public service pensions are managed, and how PSPB is organized and works is desirable.
