The Ministry is seeking to fill the following vacancy:

SOCIAL WORK MANAGER

Department of Children & Family Services

The main responsibilities of the post holder is to be responsible for the day-to-day operation of case work and group work services, while providing clinical intervention and supervision to Social Workers. Inherent in these activities is the priority for efficient utilisation of Social Work staff complement and participation in the training and development of Social Work staff.

Principal Accountabilities

Principal accountabilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting in the development of clinical policies and procedures for the standardisation of delivery of social work practice, in accordance with the Children Law (2012 Revision), Adoption Law (2013 Revision), Youth Justice Law (1990 Revision) and any other relevant pertinent legislation;
  • Assisting in the preparation of the Departmentís budget in regards to staffing and other resource needs;
  • Participating in the formulation of social policies to ensure that the social needs of the community are met by researching, documenting and informing policy-making body of critical social programs and activities and designing and informing on various strategies to effect quality delivery of casework and group work services;
  • Providing frontline supervision to social work staff to facilitate the ongoing delivery of casework/group work services;
  • Attending case conferences, care plan meetings, strategy meetings and other events; and
  • Participating in case management and case assignment meetings to ensure that work assignments are equitable to social workers, properly undertaken and completed by prioritising work consistent with needs and staff availability.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

The successful applicant is required to possess a minimum of the following:

  • A Masterís degree in Social Work, or a related discipline with formal certification and five (5) yearsí experience in the field, including supervision of staff; or
  • A Bachelorís Degree in Social Work with a minimum of ten (10) years of clinical practice and levels of training in Social Work Supervision;
  • Knowledge of Caymanian Laws and the administrative process of Government, in particular the Children Law, (2012 Revision), Youth Justice Law (1990 Revision) and Adoption Law (2013 Revision);
  • Knowledge of professional social work principles, theories and practices;
  • Formal management/supervisory training;
  • Possess attitude and values which would enable him/her to relate to people in a warm, empathetic and non-judgmental manner;
  • Ability to lead and motivate professional staff to ensure efficient and high quality of social work service delivery;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to respond to changing priorities;
  • Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, Caymanian culture; and
  • Proficiency with computers.
